The theatre department loses seven graduating seniors this year, a few who performed in all eight shows, and others less.
“Wizards and Wands was my favorite show, mostly because I got to beat up Travis Casteel on stage,” senior Abbi Ramirez said.
A total of ten seniors from the theatre department graduate this year. Ramirez graduates after participating in a total of eight shows, and being in theatre for all four years of high school. Senior Jaiden Means acted for three years, and senior Corbin Shillinger joined only this year.
“My favorite role I’ve played was the grandma from ‘The Addams Family’,” Means said.
While Means has had multiple lead roles throughout her acting career, Shillinger’s first one was this year, where he played Mr. Green, in “Clue”.
“My favorite production was ‘Clue’ because I got to do a much bigger role,” Shillinger said, “but both were just really fun, regardless.”
Shillinger enjoys acting though only participating in two shows.
“I’ve done two shows,” Shillinger said. “Once Upon a Mattress, the musical. And Clue, the play.”
In college, Shillinger and Means plan on continuing theatre, while Ramirez does not. Means plans to minor in theatre, and Shillinger continues as an extracurricular.
“I do plan to continue to act,” Shillinger said. “I’m going to do theater in college, at KU.”
