Ignite Augusta kicked off its annual Winter Wonderland light show Nov. 30. The light show takes place at Garvin Park. Walk-throughs are permitted from 6 p.m.-8 p.m., and drive-throughs are permitted from 8 p.m.-10 p.m. On Nov. 30. live music, photos with Santa, hot cocoa, coffee and a short blessing are available.
The light show this year was very vibrant and rather pleasant. Walking through Garvin Park, it was hard to look around without seeing some sort of display. The placement of every display felt organized, and it was nice seeing a story-like progression within the lights. The shorter but denser organization was much appreciated because it was 22 degrees Fahrenheit. The whole setting was pleasant and just plain enjoyable.
Particularly, I enjoyed the beautiful welcome signs and the decorated arch marking the midway point. The vibrant white lights are a particular favorite of mine. However, the reindeer were a close second. The light show also had displays that mimicked driving and even flying around.
