Two doubles teams competed in regionals, where junior Ellasyn Mettling and freshman Edyn Mettling placed 5th, seniors Ragan Pfeifer and Becca Skov placed 6th. Placing 5th and 6th qualified both teams for the state tournament, where both teams lost in the first round.

The soft clatter of keyboards echoes through the journalism lab, blending with the sound of ongoing conversations and the occasional burst of laughter. Within the room sits sophomore Ryanne Schmidt, her fingers positioned over the keys as she leans into her first assignment as a new reporter on staff.
“It looked fun,” Schmidt said. “I’ve always liked writing things and writing stories, so I thought I would join.”
Over the course of the school year, Schmidt has a goal to accomplish for newspaper
“There’s nothing really I’m thinking about accomplishing,” Schmidt said, “just writing all my stories and completing them by the deadline.”
Outside of newspaper, Schmidt manages the Oriole volleyball team and enjoys participating in anything art-related. She finds creative activities fulfilling.
“It’s just something that’s always interested me and it’s fun to do,” Schmidt said. “I like watching movies while doing it too, it gives me something to do.”
