Freshman Balei Phillips played various sports growing up, with hopes to continue playing in several sports in high school, also participating in several extracurricular activities, including newspaper.

“I love the team bond and being friends with everyone,” Phillips said.

Being a first-year reporter, Phillips found her way on the staff in typical fashion.

“I saw the designs and everything,” Phillips said. “I just wanted to get out there more and be able to learn new things from other people.”

While growing accustomed to the staff, Phillips is finding her place within the team.

“All the people like everyone and like getting to know each other,” Phillips said.

Outside of her busy school life, Phillips spends some of her time outdoors.

“I like to fish, hunt and hang out with friends and family,” Phillips said. “I like having lots of family.”

Phillips loves the idea of acting and aims to explore that more. After high school, Phillips has several choices for a possible career.

“I want to be an actor, but I want to go to cosmetology school,” Phillips said. “I don’t know which one I want to do more.”
