Abigail Brinkley

Abigail Brinkley, Reporter

While the newspaper crew chatters like an Oriole, often, reporter Abby Brinkley sits silently and listens in on the chaos.

“I’m a reporter,” sophomore Abby Brinkley said. “I was last year and this year, and I probably will stay that because I don’t like editing stories.”

Brinkley joined the Oriole staff under the influence of her older sister, senior Emily Brinkley, who was already on staff, working with adviser Julie Barker.

“Emily started in her freshman year, and once I was almost in freshman year, Emily asked if I wanted to join, so she set up a meeting with me and Barker,” Abby said.

In her first year on staff, she learned and gained the experience that helped her and gave her the knowledge to assist newcomers.

“Make sure all your stories are in, or you’ll fall behind because then you’ll have another story you have to do, or you’ll not get something important that’s going on this school year.”

After she graduates, Abby plans on becoming an esthetician.

“College was never something I wanted to do,” Abby said. “I talked to my aunt about cosmetology, which eventually led to me wanting to be an esthetician.”
