The upcoming choir concert promises excitement from beach party fun to tragic love songs, as choir director Nick Franssen and his students come together to deliver a performance full of energy
“As a choir teacher, I see where we started and where we ended that quarter, and that growth is always really exciting for me,” Franssen said. “I try to pick a curriculum for them to sing and perform that is going to stretch their abilities and their skills so that they grow.”
Franssen allowed his show choir students to select some of their songs for this concert.
The show choir theme is beach party. Junior Liliana Doyle and senior Mikaela Tymony developed the choreography for their four songs.
“When I was trying to make choreo, a lot of the songs are from me watching movies,” Tymony said. “I got choreo from that, and then I searched up stuff.”
Doyle had fun working with the other choreographers to bring their ideas to the dances.
“We wanted everyone to have a good time performing and make it look easy, even though some parts were pretty challenging,” Doyle said.
Franssen was proud of the choreographers’ creativity, strong leadership and their dedication.
“It’s rewarding to see students take ownership of their performance and contribute in such meaningful ways,” Franssen said. “Their enthusiasm will really shine through on stage.”
