History teacher Taylor Cusick is the dance coach for the high school dance team. Cusick feels nostalgic about hosting the dance clinic because because she attended the dance clinic when she was in elementary school.
“It would have probably been over 15 years ago that I was in the clinic,” Cusick said. “It was a very full-circle moment for me.”
The students were excited to dance alongside the dance members and to receive their pink t-shirts that matched the Barbie-themed dance performance.
“They were very kind and compassionate while handling any issues, injuries or problems that occurred,” Cusick said.
Senior dance captain Juliana Rivera helped with the dance clinic since her freshman year Over the years, she has learned different ways to teach and work with elementary students.
“I have learned to take breaks in learning to play games, and to be enthusiastic while I teach,” Rivera said.
Cusick faced trouble getting the information out to parents about the clinic. Next year, she hopes the process will go smoother.
“We were able to spread the word a bit through social media, and we will definitely be focusing more on that next year,” Cusick said.
