Energy drinks are a common sight around high schools. The amount of energy drinks consumed varies from person to person.
Junior Christopher Lewellen drinks energy drinks more often at work than at school.
“I drink maybe three or four a week.” Lewellen said.” “If I’m at work, I usually have a couple more,” Lewellen said.
Senior Erin Cain drinks a Red Bull almost every day while at school.
“I drink five to seven a week,” Cain said. “I love Red Bulls; they taste good.”
Teenagers often consume energy drinks for the caffeine; however, junior Harley Williams enjoys both the flavor and caffeine of her drinks.
“I like Ghost,” Williams said. “They have a lot of different flavors, and they have a good grape flavor.”
Cain drinks Red Bull for the flavor. The energy effect is not as prominent to her.
“They sometimes give me energy, but I just think they taste good,” Cain said. “I mostly drink the original flavor in the mornings.”
Lewellen drinks Monster Energy for the flavor alone, the energy effect is not a factor in how many he drinks.
“They sometimes give me energy, but I just think they taste good,” Lewellen said.
Teenagers often consume energy drinks in the morning to combat sleep. Williams utilizes the energy to keep her awake throughout the day.
“They help me wake up, especially for school,” Williams said. “I drink them early in the morning because I am tired throughout the day. If I don’t have one, I’ll fall asleep in my classes.”
