A two-day longer Thanksgiving break changes the routine for the teachers and students.
Thanksgiving break was a week long, unlike the usual two days in school and three days on break in previous years. Teachers and students had different thoughts on this new break.
Science teacher Erika Richardson was not affected by the longer break and believed it was better for some students who go on vacation during this holiday week.
“A weeklong break is a good idea because many students take Monday and Tuesday off to go on vacation anyway,” Richardson said.
English teacher Austyn Sudduth carried a different point of view on the longer Thanksgiving break.
“I’m looking forward to it,” Sudduth said. “I think it’s going to make it easier for us to come back and finish December strong.”
Sudduth believed the break helped students and teachers once they returnd to school, but she still held many worries for her students.
“I’m hopeful that it will make the students more motivated when they come back for December,” Sudduth said. “I’m slightly worried that it will make them zone out and slow down on their achievements.”
Freshman Cannon Belt liked the idea of a longer Thanksgiving break but was concerned about others and his education.
“We need more time to work on school work,” Belt said. “It is close to finals, so some might struggle to get back to the schedule quickly enough.”
