The commons buzzed with excitement as homecoming candidates took pictures in their spirit day outfits.
Homecoming candidates Santana Lichlyter and Dalton Pankratz worked together to obtain votes for crowning.
“We try to be everybody’s friend the best we can, and try to form relationships with underclassmen and be involved,” Lichlyter said.
Candidates Willy Jon Morales and Maeve Fleming found spirit week more fun than worrisome.
“It was a lot of fun the whole week,” Morales said. “When homecoming came around, I wasn’t super worried about winning or losing; being a candidate was fun by itself.”
Candidates Jenna Roberts and Cooper Stueven cared more about the experience of homecoming than winning king or queen.
“I don’t think any of us care that much, and we’re just excited for the experience and for whoever it is,” Roberts said.
Lichlyter enjoyed spirit week with the other candidates.
“Just being here for the experience is so much better and getting to experience it with good people,” Lichlyter said.
Morales and homecoming candidate Ella Strohm, who was originally partnered with Emmett Brown, were crowned homecoming king and queen Friday night at the home football game.
“Standing in front of everyone, putting the tiara on Ella’s head, and the medal on my neck was just really fun,” Morales said.
