Schools need to adapt to new technology

Technology is constantly changing and being added, which means society has to constantly adapt. However, schools do not adapt well to these technologies.

One of the biggest changes technology has brought to our world is the simplification of organization, research and even work. Not that any of these changes are bad, but they need to be incorporated into school to avoid students being left with zero actual work.

Schools should not limit students’ accessibility to a variety of technology. Schools should not make all their lessons revolve around the sole use of technology. Teaching lessons solely through technology is not a good way for students to learn or remember information. Whether it is just a slideshow or a video, students do not acquire the same learning experience as when they are writing notes or completing work manually on paper.

It also does not help that artificial intelligence (AI) has become a problem for schools. Schools often want to avoid AI and always consider it bad and harmful in a learning environment. AI can actually be useful.

While students should obviously not use AI to write an entire essay or create a slideshow for their classes, AI can be used for students to bounce their own ideas off of, as well as have a different way to learn new information about a topic.

AI can be great for rewording a sentence that sounds awkward or organizing an essay outline so it makes sense in a way that a student did not originally consider.

Technology is not inherently something that should be avoided or used within a school environment. Technology is something that needs to be well controlled.

Teachers and schools need to look at how technology can be used, and effectively implement it into their lessons and classes to allow students an easy learning experience, while still keeping them engaged and actively working.

Technology allows for work to be completed very easily and efficiently, and that is important for schools to adapt to. However, schools should not adapt to technology to the point where technology completely replaces all the work students would have to do.
