Sophomore Alex Evans scrolling through Twitter. Well-known billionaire Elon Musk plans to buy social media company Twitter to make some changes he feels are necessary. “Twitter is a business, and like any business they have rules,” Evans said. “These rules are going to be changed, and subsequently allow people to say hateful things once again.”

A well-known billionaire, Elon Musk, announced and detailed his plan to buy the social media company Twitter’ for roughly $46.5 billion April 21.

“I think it’s crazy; he spent so much money on a free app,” sophomore Giselle Mestas said. “There are so many other things he could’ve spent that money on like charity or giving food to the poor.”

Mestas is not the only person who disagrees with what Musk is doing.

“I don’t think Elon Musk should buy Twitter,” sophomore Alex Evans said. “It’s mainly a publicity stunt at this point.”

While Musk said he wants to buy the app to incorporate more free speech and allow editing of tweets, some students find this change not good enough.

“Twitter is going to change for the worse,” Evans said. “Musk has often criticized Twitter for some of the most stupid things ever.”

Some students, like Mestas, feel the changes he is going to make are not going to help the app at all.

“He could make it privately owned or something,” Mestas said. “Either way, I doubt his changes will improve the app.”

However, some students feel that some of the changes Musk could make could be welcomed.

“He is definitely going to change communication, and what exactly you’re able to say,” Evans said. “The only good thing for Twitter is an option to edit tweets, as well as longer tweets.”
