Lewellen, Williams earn scholarships
Lindsey Lewellen (12) and Presley Williams (12) have received full-ride academic scholarships to the college of their choice starting in the fall.
“I am going to Newman University, and the scholarship is a full-ride tuition. I am starting in the fall,” Williams said.
On the other hand, Lindsey received a full-ride scholarship to Oklahoma State University (OSU) in Stillwater. She plans on using the scholarship to achieve a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering. Then she plans to achieve a master’s in business administration.
“I chose OSU because they are a very good college, and they have additional opportunities, such as a color guard team,” Lindsey said. “Also, Stillwater is the best college town in the nation that I fit in with. Everyone in Stillwater has jeans and boots and are nice, which is something I fit in with, besides the nice part.”
Not only are the recipients of the scholarship excited, but their parents are grateful for their students’ successes.
“As a parent, I have watched Lindsey spend lots of late hours studying, participating in extracurricular activities and helping out on our small farm.” Lindsey’s mother, Leslie Lewellen, said. “She amazes me with her ability to set goals and achieve them in multiple areas.”
Leslie feels Lindsey’s hard work will benefit her in the future.
“Lindsey’s not afraid of hard work; she’s an ambitious person who will continue to do impressive things with her talents. Her dad and I are extremely proud of everything she has accomplished,” Leslie said.
